Ägypten: Dutzende Tote bei Gefechten zwischen Armee und Extremisten auf Sinai-Halbinsel

Bei einer Serie von Angriffen und nachfolgenden Gefechten zwischen Extremisten und Soldaten sind auf der ägyptischen Sinai-Halbinsel am Freitag zahlreiche Menschen getötet worden.

Wie das ägyptische Militär mitteilte, wurden bei den Gefechten im Norden der Halbinsel 26 Soldaten verletzt oder getötet. Auch 40 Angreifer seien getötet worden.

Seit dem Sturz des islamistischen Präsidenten Mohammed Mursi im Sommer 2013 haben Dschihadisten in Ägypten hunderte Polizisten und Soldaten getötet.

Die meisten Angriffe gab es auf der Sinai-Halbinsel, die an Israel und den palästinensischen Gazastreifen grenzt.
