An Albanian man who got into Britain on fake documents was denied asylum and hid for 9 years – but he’s now been granted permission to stay in the UK permanently.
In the latest immigration farce to strike on British soil, Ermal Alijaj, who pretended to be a refugee from Kosovo, arrived in the back of a lorry nearly a decade ago.
Authorities realised he was lying and he ran away, living undetected for 9 years.
How did he get around deportation? Well, Alijaj contacted his Albanian mates and they sent him his real passport.
Then, in their infinite wisdom, Home Office officials decided he could stay indefinitely, apparently despite knowing his earlier scam.
The real kick in the teeth is that, allegedly, the length of time he spent in Britain and the connections he made while he was here were a factor in the decision…
