The terrifying incident in Turku comes just a day after a van mowed down pedestrians in Barcelona, Spain, killing 14 and injuring more than 100 others.
One person has been killed and at least eight others have been hospitalised after ‘three knife-wielding attackers‘ went on the rampage in Finland, it is reported.
Armed police officers are said to have shot one suspect in the leg after the group allegedly started stabbing people in the city of Turku this afternoon.
As they carried out the terrifying attack, cries of “Allahu Akbar” were apparently heard – although the phrase sounds like “watch out” in Finnish.
It is thought that three suspects were involved in the attack and two of them are ‘on the run’. Police have said they are “searching for possible more perpetrators”.
However, the claims of more than one attacker remain unconfirmed.
