Merkel ist offen für mehr Flüchtlinge in der EU

Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel (CDU) unterstützt den Vorschlag, mehr Flüchtlinge als bisher geplant dauerhaft in der EU aufzunehmen.

Sie zeigte sich am Freitag offen, die Zahl der europaweit zugesagten Plätze von 20.000 auf 40 000 zu verdoppeln. Dies Bundeskanzlerin Merkel berät sich mit Flüchtlingsorganisationensei eine Zahl, die “eine Europäische Union mit 500 Millionen Einwohnern wohl verkraften kann”, sagte Merkel nach einem Treffen mit UN-Flüchtlingshochkommissar Filippo Grandi und dem Generaldirektor der Internationalen Organisation für Migration (IOM), William Lacy Swing, in Berlin. Voraussetzung sei allerdings, die illegale Zuwanderung besser in den Griff zu bekommen.
