In Amsterdam-West opent dit najaar een islamitische middelbare school: het Cornelius Haga Lyceum.
Vanuit moslimkringen zwelt de bezorgdheid aan over de stichting die deze school heeft opgericht. De Stichting Islamitisch Onderwijs (SIO) zou banden onderhouden met salafistische organisaties.
Koepelorganisatie Contactorgaan voor Moslims en Overheid (CMO) luidt de noodklok en raadt ouders af om hun kinderen naar het Cornelius Haga Lyceum te brengen. Volgens Rasit Bal, de voorzitter van het CMO, kaapt de school het alleenrecht op islamitisch voortgezet onderwijs. Dat zegt hij in de Volkskrant. De geloofsovertuiging van het bestuur ‘schurkt aan tegen het salafisme’, aldus Bal.
Bal: ‘Ze zonderen zich af van de maatschappij, maar ook van de rest van de moslimgemeenschap.’ Ingrijpen kan de overheid niet, omdat de staat gebonden is aan Artikel 23 van de Grondwet, die vrijheid van onderwijs garandeert…
