A knife-wielding man has killed a woman and injured five others in a frenzied attack in a Hamburg supermarket.
Police said a man entered the supermarket and stabbed a number of people at about 3pm local time on Friday.
“He struck out at customers without warning,” Heike Uhde, a police spokeswoman said.
According to German newspaper Bild, the man cried “Allahu Akbar” while he carried out the attack.
Police said a 26-year-old man born in the United Arab Emirates has been arrested. His nationality is not known at this stage.
The suspect fled the scene but was chased by witnesses who were able to restrain him nearby. He was arrested by police shortly afterwards.
A women, aged 50, died at the scene, police said.
Four men suffered stab injuries, while another person was injured trying to overcome the suspect. They were all rushed to hospital…
