EU in Brussel is blij: nu nog meer censuur en minder mening bij Youtube, Facebook, Twitter

Social media moet net zo braaf, onvrij en overheidsgecontroleerd worden als Netflix en TV.

Facebook, YouTube, Twitter en andere platforms waar filmpjes worden gedeeld, moeten onder dezelfde EU-regels vallen als tv-zenders of videodiensten als Netflix. Dat betekent dat de beelden moeten worden gefilterd op haatboodschappen en schadelijke inhoud voor kinderen zoals porno.

Met dit plan is de meerderheid van de EU-lidstaten dinsdag in Brussel akkoord gegaan. Nederland stemde tegen maar staat volgens staatssecretaris Sander Dekker (Cultuur) niet alleen. Het voorstel is onderdeel van een pakket maatregelen om de bestaande EU-richtlijn voor audiovisuele mediadiensten te moderniseren.

“Het is goed om minder onderscheid te maken tussen traditionele kanalen en wat er op internet gebeurt”, aldus Dekker. “Maar nu dreigt zo ongeveer het hele internet er onder te vallen…
